Week 26

Bike in the forefront leaning on a bench with the sea in the back

The general theme this week has been to just try to stay afloat and on top of things. The momentum got a bit crushed near the end of the week when I pulled my back this weekend on a level that surprised even me — someone who is not surprised by the schemings of my own body against me. The bike project was getting along well until I was rendered immobile which killed the whole momentum of my training and pulled me mentally down into the dumps again. Anyway, it was not fun to realise that I could only operate in two states: seated or horizontal, never vertical, and any kind of movment or transition between either of those states was not only nearly impossible but also laced with sharp, shooting pains. I’m now starting to believe that finding and holding on to a good physio is a time and money investment everyone should make as soon as they hit 30 even if they don’t need it then. I know I need to start looking for one right away.

There is some momentum elsewhere at least. I have been thinking a lot about content and (the future of) publishing this week as I’ve started working on a newsletter side-project with some friends. It’s born out of a personal need of each of ours to have access to high-quality and easily-digestible (read: short snippets) news about India delivered right to our inboxes (and our Whatsapp). What we hope differentiates us is the accessibility and authenticity of the product and also the curation of it, which is where we’re really investing a lot of our own time. The branding and style of it are still WIP but you can access the early works of Desi Dispatch here. If you like it, maybe even sign up and share it? You can also send me your feedback directly. More on this to follow as something like this has kind of been close to heart for a long time.

Running a bit near capacity on most things these days - training, projects, learning, general health, etc. Hoping to find some balance soon and pick up the momentum again.
