Down and Out

general

Week 14

Spent the week oscillating in and out of a sickness-induced fog, with the first two days of the week spent just lying in the living room binge-watching Full Swing on Netflix, interrupted merely by toilet breaks and attempts to eat food that refused to stay down. Completely lost appetite for days and watched three(!) seasons in three(!) days of a Golf documentary, both things I didn’t think I was ever capable of doing.

Might have lost some weight; definitely lost some brain cells.

Flurries of snow in Stockholm yesterday after a week of having really nice Spring weather. A week of really nice Spring weather when you’re sick and unable to move or leave your place is another kind of mortal hell.

Oscillating this weekend between wanting to be productive, browsing apartment-listing interior design, feeling drained from being sick, and watching Netflix.

Watched 12th Fail finally. Not a fail. Something nice about rags-to-riches Bollywood movies and even better when they’re based on true stories. Vikrant Massey was really good, and I will have to keep an eye on more of his stuff.

Wormold, a sort of recluse vacuum-seller turned reluctant spy in Our Man in Havana, keeps on the charade of being a spy simply to keep reaping its financial benefits. It’s interesting how sometimes we end up in certain paths of life/career “accidentally”. Got me thinking a lot about my own past experiences (mostly great and some incredibly lucky!) and how some small moments have sort of shaped a life/career. Trying to work it into a more complete piece at the moment instead of bits and pieces this week that don’t feel fleshed out to my foggy brain.

Feels like a cheat week, but it also feels like a bit more self-kindness is needed everywhere these days. Thinking of friends and family. Reach out to those you care about!

🥘 Food
  • Homemade Lassi and Ginger Lemon Honey Tea (just life-savers during stomach bugs)
  • Radiatore pasta, store-bought Siciliana sauce simmered with garlic and fried leek, five grilled chicken wings, zero evidence.
